Hi John

This week, I was back in the headlines after we released our "Elect Ho Ho Hoes" sweatshirt for the Holidays.

...Great, right? Coverage from journalists is every politician's dream. Well, when you're a woman running for office, not so much.

As a former sex worker, there is nothing I hate more than having my entire identity minimized down to stripper or exotic dancer

Don't get me wrong–I'm not ashamed of my work as a stripper. Sex work is work. But I'm really proud of the work I'm doing now too.

I have two master's degree—one in public health, the other in health science. I spent three years working as a data scientist at the Fox Chase Cancer Center. I'm a soccer coach, a former candidate for Congress, I'm a researcher.

Does all of that get nullified because one of my jobs during college was stripping?

Even though the media only focuses on this one part of me, voters see me as a multidimensional human: I'm an everyday person with friends, a family, a good education, two cats and a dog, and a pile of laundry to fold. I pay taxes, clean my bathrooms, and love bruschetta.

Choosing to erase my professional qualifications, my entire personality, and everything else beyond former stripper is the journalistic equivalent of staring at my cleavage while I'm talking.

So here's a hot tip for the media—my policies are up here: ☝️🧠

I need help to show the media that we're a campaign that should be taken seriously. Our next filing is in just a few weeks and it will set the tenor for how everyone perceives our campaign.

If we show up strong, we control how the media talks about us. Please donate now to help.
