John, Year after year, we’ve witnessed an increase of anti-LGBTQ, specifically anti-trans, bills being introduced in state legislatures across the country. Unfortunately, Virginia’s General Assembly is one of those legislatures. Several anti-LGBTQ+ bills have already been pre-filed for Virginia's 2023 session. That's why we're hosting a LGBTQ+ Rights Town Hall. As the General Assembly draws near, we’ve heard your concerns for what’s to come and how to defeat hate. Join Equality Virginia, He She Ze and We, Side by Side, and the ACLU of Virginia on Wednesday, December 14, from 6-7:30PM for a virtual town hall where you’ll receive an update on what we’re expecting this session, how to stay informed, and ways to get engaged. We'll be joined by LGBTQ+ rights advocates, legislators, and community members for two panel discussions, followed by a Q&A. If you have any questions about what this upcoming legislative session will mean for LGBTQ+ rights in Virginia, you should RSVP to our statewide town hall. |

Additionally, Equality Virginia has spent the last twelve months as part of the LGBTQ+ Planning Team, a group of Richmond-area organizations and directly impacted young people who are working to address houselessness among LGBTQ+ youth in the local area. The team has collectively created a detailed plan of action for reducing housing insecurity and providing equitable and trauma-informed resources to houseless youth and are ready to share their plan with the broader community. Hear our Plan of Action! Please join us on December 15th from 5:30-7:00 PM to hear more about the team’s work, ask questions, and offer feedback on next steps. RSVP below! |
