Last night at the New York Young Republican Club Gala, Marjorie Taylor Greene said that she and Steve Bannon would have "won" the January 6th insurrection because they would have brought guns:
"I got to tell you something, if Steve Bannon and I had organized that, we would have won. Not to mention, it would’ve been armed."
It's completely unacceptable for a sitting member of Congress to openly endorse gun violence. I'm appalled, but unfortunately not surprised.
We've two troubling trends in recent years: 1) the far-right working to normalize violence and 2) the far-right gaining more and more influence over the GOP. As we prepare for Republicans to gain a slight House majority when the new Congress is sworn in next month, Democrats must be ready to fight back against MAGA extremism on Day One.
Whatever our political beliefs, we should all do what we can to keep each other safe. I refuse to be silent as extremist politicians endorse gun violence.
