RENT STABILITY

With 32 Young Dems in the House we have a real chance this session to make progress on the serious issues impacting young people every day. There are already two priority bills scheduled for their public hearings next week: Chair of the YD Caucus Representative Willis Griffith's Student Loan Bill of Rights bill & 2nd term Young Dem Representative Casey Conley's Rent Stability bill! Both are being heard on Tuesday morning, 1/14/20 at 9:30am and 11am.

• Contains important parameters to protect borrowers from common issues in interest rates, over-borrowing, and unreasonable repayment plans
• Increases education about loans on the front end of the borrowing process, so more young people don't fall into deferment and defaulting tactics

Rent Stability Bill

• Mandates landlords give tenants at least a 90 days notice prior to raising rent more than 5%
• Would help protect many young people & families from last minute notice for crippling rent increases in NH
• Prevent inconvenient & disruptive need to move out of district or region for housing affordability reasons without due notice
