There were times this past year when I felt hopeless. While I grieved for the lives lost in Uvalde, I felt crushed thinking about my own son’s safety. I felt hopeless seeing the daily senseless gun deaths throughout the Commonwealth. I despaired at hearing about more families torn apart by firearm suicide.

But each time the frustration and anger might overwhelm any of us, you renewed my hope Friend. You showed up in the Erie snow, the streets of Philadelphia, the North Hills of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia  to save lives from gun violence.

The results are clear: we had more life-saving victories this year than in a long time.  Will you make a commitment today to accelerate our fight for a life free from gun violence? 

Together, we passed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act and won Senate confirmation of a new ATF Director. When the General Assembly refused to consider any life-saving laws, we forced their hand by protesting across the Commonwealth. Then, we won $105 million for grants to support evidence-based community violence prevention and intervention programs. We made it clear Pennsylvanians don’t want weaker gun laws by booting NRA-backed candidates in the midterm elections.

Next year, we can accelerate our efforts. Now that we will soon have a gun safety majority in the House, we’ll have be able to move popular solutions like reporting stolen weapons and keeping firearms from those who are at risk of suicide.
