From the beginning, we worked in coalition with the Southern California Building Decarbonization Coalition to steer early drafts of this plan towards a zero-emissions and decarbonization approach, and continued to make comments until the final draft was built.
I can’t stress how proud we are of this new plan, friend: At this key moment, the SCAQMD stood up to fossil fuel special interests and at last approved a strong plan for clean air. This wouldn’t have been possible if not for the tireless work of environmental and environmental justice supporters and advocates alongside the critical voices of communities just fighting to breathe.
Southern California has the worst pollution in the country, and frontline communities deserve a clear plan to eliminate the burden of pollution. Now they’re getting there!
Clean air is a crucial step toward a sustainable green future and toward justice for those most impacted by the climate crisis. By transitioning to a clean energy economy that supports good mortgage- and rent-paying union jobs, we can create climate resiliency across our landscapes and in our communities.
By signing our thank you letter, you will signal to all the other Air Quality Management Districts that SCAQMD’s new plan is the one to follow >>
Thank you, as always, for being an Environmental Voter.
