Hi there,

Since the city of Austin’s establishment in 1840, there has only been one woman ever elected as mayor. Celia Israel is on a mission to change that – and her runoff election is TOMORROW.

We have already rushed your donations to Celia, which helped make it possible for her supporters to release a new ad! But time is running out, and she needs our help to keep it on the air through Election Day. Please rush a $15 contribution to support her campaign right now →

As we are sure you’re aware, Texas has recently passed draconian and dangerous anti-abortion legislation. Although Austin is a progressive city, these bills affect everyone in the state. We thought you might like to read part of Celia’s response to our question about how she plans to support the women of Austin as they navigate these dangerous state laws.

“While the state of Texas has banned abortion and continues to attack options for seeking reproductive health care, we as a city are not without power or resolve. I am the only candidate in this race who has provided a comprehensive action plan to support the reproductive needs of women and people who can get pregnant in Austin. We can come together with creative solutions to support Austinites in need of abortion, protect patient privacy, increase access to affordable contraception, and support access to sexual health and wellness services and medically-accurate sex education.”

Celia has served in the Texas House of Representatives since 2014 and served as a leader in the Democratic Caucus. Before that, she worked in the Ann Richards administration. Yet, while deciding to run for Mayor, Celia was told to wait her turn and clear the lane for her male opponent. Celia is a woman who has years of legislative experience and has shown up to serve her community.

Would a man with her experience ever be told to wait his turn?

If Celia gets elected, she will be the first Latina ever elected mayor of a major American city and the first openly LGBTQ+ person to hold this seat. We don’t have a lot of time, John xxxxxx. Can you pitch in $15 or whatever you can right away?
