Donating Christmas gifts to families in need in Nottingham

Donate [ [link removed] ]

Our colleagues here at the council are collecting gifts for children in care, or in families where they cannot afford Christmas gifts.

2022 has been yet another challenging year for everyone and the cost of living is putting a squeeze on people?s finances - but, if you can afford a few pounds to help make Christmas brighter, please follow the link below.

There are a range of toys, gifts, clothes, and craft ideas to choose from, with a range of prices. Simply add a gift (or two if you can afford it) to your basket and when you go to checkout select the delivery address ?Christmas Stars Appeal?s Gift Registry address? in the other address section.

Where possible please place your orders for delivery before this Friday (16 December) to ensure the gifts get to Santa ready for the big day.

Thank you for your support, it really makes a huge difference [ [link removed] ]

Winter support in place again for rough sleepers in Nottingham

Rough sleepers [ [link removed] ]

With the icy conditions set to last for a few more days yet, we stepped up our additional support for rough sleepers last week.

Working with partners like Framework and Emmanuel House, we?ll be carrying out regular checks of those sleeping on the streets this winter and making offers of accommodation to all when the temperature drops to zero degrees Centigrade or below.

Don't waste your chance to have your say on rubbish and recycling collections

Waste

Due to changes in guidelines from the UK Government, we're making changes to how we manage waste and recycling in Nottingham.

We want to:

* Increase options for recycling at home
* Start food waste collections
* Encourage people to repair and reuse items like electricals and clothes
* Create energy from waste and avoid sending rubbish to landfill
* And more

These changes will help us to reduce the amount of stuff that?s thrown away in Nottingham, create energy from rubbish, and move towards becoming a carbon neutral city.

We want to know what you think about our plans. Share your comments with us before the consultation closes this Wednesday?*14th December*.

People invited to have their say on new Strategic Plan for the Greater Nottingham Area

?10m funding [ [link removed] ]

The City Council along with Broxtowe, Gedling and Rushcliffe Borough Councils have today published a document that sets out our collective approach towards strategic planning across Greater Nottingham.

The ?Preferred Approach? document will form the basis of the Greater Nottingham Strategic Plan which will help shape future planning for the area. This will look at how Greater Nottingham?s longer-term development needs can be met up to 2038, supported by more detailed policies which will be developed in each council?s own individual Local Plan.

We are seeking views from residents, organisations and businesses on the proposed strategy and vision, the approach to housing and employment provision and the proposed strategic sites. The Preferred Document is available to view and comment on here [ [link removed] ] for the next eight weeks.
