Next Monday, December 12 at 4:00 PM ET (1:00 PM PT) you’re invited to People For’s December Book Club, featuring acclaimed journalist and author, April Ryan, where we'll discuss her new book, "Black Women Will Save the World: An Anthem."
Joining the discussion with April Ryan will be Svante Myrick, incoming president at People For, and Raquel Jones, Director of Leadership Programs.
By weaving in anecdotes from her own career as a White House reporter and from the lives of other notable Black women, April Ryan paints a picture of Black women today as once and future saviors of society — profoundly disadvantaged by structural racism and sexism, but with the ability to overcome due to a unique collective spirit.
Throughout her book, Ryan makes a case for Black women as unsung “sheroes” of American history, who have “transformed their pain into power” to achieve political, social and economic progress not for themselves alone, but for the greater good.
