Hi, my name is Jay Brown. I’ve lived in Bensonhurst my entire life and my Southern Brooklyn community is incredibly important to me. That’s why I support Andrew Gounardes, because I know it is incredibly important to him, as well. 

I first met Andrew in 2012, in the days following Superstorm Sandy. when he helped ensure that the hurricane relief fundraiser my running club had started got the thousands of dollars we raised to a reliable charity specifically dedicated to helping those affected in Brooklyn. And he took the time to do this while busy starting Bay Ridge Cares, as it prepared 25,000 hot meals for storm victims, all just a few days before an Election Day while he was running for office.

Whether it was back then in 2012, volunteering with him at subway stations on countless mornings during his 2018 campaign as he listened to the concerns of our neighbors, or on a Bay Ridge street corner on the first Sunday of this new year, as we joined with hundreds of fellow Brooklynites to speak out against a hate group trying to recruit in our neighborhoods—Andrew is always there.

I’ve been proud to stand alongside him. I’m proud of what he has done and continues to do for our community. Andrew has helped all of us, which is why I’ll be doing all I can to help him continue his work in Albany. He needs your help, too.
