Up to $25 million from the State of Florida will be used to buy materials for building repairs, and up to $35.2 million from the Florida Disaster Fund will go to housing and social services support organizations to cover the costs associated with volunteer labor and meet other unmet needs identified through IanRecovery.FL.gov.

“Floridians are resilient, and the state stands by them every step of the way as they continue their recovery,” Governor DeSantis said.

Florida’s strong economy continues to strengthen state finances

The Legislature’s Office of Economic & Demographic Research reports that the state had $3.23 billion in net general revenue in October – $141.4 million over the projection for October that economists had increased in August.

The total would have been even higher, the report noted, if not for Hurricane Ian’s devastation in Southwest Florida September 28, and then further destruction as the storm crossed the state.

Florida Institute of Technology cracks top 20 in national employability ranking

The Florida Institute of Technology has broken into the top 20 American universities with the most employable graduates, according to the 2023 Global Employability University Ranking published Tuesday, the only Florida school to do so. Ranked 17th in the nation, FIT ranked between two Ivy League schools, Dartmouth and Cornell.
