December 12, 2022 John,
2022 has been another successful year in our fight to enact common-sense marijuana policy reforms.
Three states — Maryland, Missouri, and Rhode Island — enacted laws legalizing adult-use marijuana possession and regulating retail cannabis markets, and another state – Mississippi – enacted legislation regulating medical cannabis production and sales.
Lawmakers in several states enacted laws prohibiting employers from discriminating against those who consume cannabis off the job, while legislators in several others advanced efforts to provide expungement relief for those with past cannabis convictions.
In all, lawmakers and voters enacted over 40 laws improving cannabis policies in over a dozen states in 2022.
Take a look back at our 2022 legislative victories in NORML’s year-end report, now available online here.
As a consumer advocacy organization, we work in the trenches to support your interests at the state and federal levels. But it is your activism that makes our work possible – and successful.
As we look ahead toward 2023, we see unique opportunities to score important legislative victories in additional states, such as Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Texas, among others. But we will need your help to do so. Please take a moment today to donate to NORML so that we can continue to move the ball forward. Your financial assistance will ensure we have even more legislative victories to celebrate next year.
Onward and upward,
Paul Armentano
NORML Deputy Director
