John --

The House brought a bill to the floor today that would limit Presidential wartime powers, reign in rampant Executive overreach, and finally restore Congress’ authority in matters of war.

There’s no doubt we’ll see many Republicans debating that this is not the time to act. They will hypocritically argue that members of the House are overreaching.

Just last night, the White House conducted a briefing with members of the Senate regarding the assassination of Iranian General Soleimani. According to those in attendance, the Trump administration demanded that Congress refrain from debating or evaluating any actions taken by Trump, claiming that any debate would somehow give Iran an edge.

Of the Republicans in attendance, only two spoke out regarding this Administration’s outrageous and unconstitutional demand. While Senate Democrats gave, at best, lukewarm rebukes.

One thing is clear: When We The People put pressure on OUR representatives, they will act. Americans are showing up to protest in the millions, both online and on the ground. But we can’t stop. We must continue to demand action. Sign our petition today and help us send a message to Congress that it’s time to do their jobs. [link removed]

Keep a watchful eye out today, BNCers. Remember, we aren’t hopeless. We can show up, protest, and we can vote! BNC has more than two dozen candidates running across the country. These candidates need your help to reach the voters they need to win. Can you contribute today to help us elect a new generation of representatives who will ensure our Democracy is protected?
