Just days after Donald Trump made the reckless decision to bring us closer to war with Iran, he escalated tensions by threatening to take out Iranian cultural sites among 52 targeted bombings.
Besides this being a war crime under the Geneva Convention and illegal, the truth is, these cultural sites do not just belong to Iran.
They belong to all of us. Notre-Dame in Paris, Angkor Wat in Cambodia, the Taj Mahal in India, the Acropolis in Greece, the Lincoln Memorial, Petra in Jordan.
These sites belong to humanity. Throughout our history, our society has developed a sense of identity. Our identity shapes us but does not limit us.
We see this through amazing works of art or architecture, at cultural and religious places, and it helps each of us understand our human potential.
We must fervently denounce any consideration of this as a tactic of war. Donald Trump is not fit to lead the United States. We should all be worried for our standing in the world. This week our allies wonder what has become of the USA.
