John -- remember this summer's heat waves?

As Greenpeace’s Chief Scientist, I pay close attention to how climate news is reported. It was frustrating to see some tabloids push the narrative that scorching 40 degree heat was no big deal.

But this extreme heat and weather is only set to get worse. And the science clearly shows it’s caused by human activity – if we don’t act now, things are going to become more severe.

We know how to tackle this crisis, the science is clear on that too. But it’s politicians who are dragging their feet to act.

John -- together we can change that. Will you help fund the campaigns that ramp up the pressure on our government to cement environmental protections into law? It takes 2 minutes:

Of course, extreme weather didn’t just affect us here in the UK. In Asia, catastrophic flooding displaced millions of people in Bangladesh, and later Pakistan. Worse still, most scientists agree that South Asia is likely to see even heavier rains in the future. [1]

Scientists say that this increased flooding is likely made worse by climate change. [2] It’s a stark reminder that the climate crisis is happening now – and disproportionately impacting the people least responsible for it.

This summer has shown just what’s at stake in our fight to protect the planet. Together with your support, we can uncover the truth about the climate crisis, hold polluting companies responsible and push for environmental protections.

John -- as a vital part of our movement, could you step up your support and help stand up for science? A monthly gift means we can keep up the pressure for the protections our planet desperately needs:

We should all be concerned by the extreme weather that took place this year. But thankfully there’s still time to act.

A regular gift could help secure the legal protections we all need to ensure lasting change. And stop every summer being the hottest one yet.

John -- thank you for supporting us and our vital scientific work.
