Our nation is facing a political crisis. But while the American people are looking to Congress to faithfully and fully explore the impeachment charges pending against the president, Majority Leader McConnell is doing his best to protect the president at the price of the truth. If he had it his way, the Senate would completely abandon its sworn oath and allow Trump to keep openly inviting, and even demanding, foreign interference in our elections.
That’s a stunning betrayal of our independence and sovereignty. But McConnell is showing himself to be more dedicated to his own partisan, political power than he is truth and justice.
Luckily, he doesn’t have unlimited power or control. While he has the votes to begin the trial process, a handful of Senators, banded together, could still force his hand by insisting the Senate call relevant witnesses and subpoenaing key documents.

Pressure is our best tool to force McConnell’s hand and ensure that the Senate does it’s duty. Our Senators have to know that we expect a fair and full trial. They have to hear directly from us, that no trial is complete if key fact witnesses aren’t required to testify. If they hear from enough of us, they’ll know they have to live up to their oaths. Stand up for a fair trial, help us keep the pressure on.
