After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, GOP-controlled state legislatures -- including Ohio’s -- moved quickly to pass extreme laws restricting access to vital, sometimes life-saving, reproductive care.

I’ve spoken to Ohioans and health care providers about how these types of laws affect them. They force clinics to close their doors. They put the health of women and girls at risk. They take away women’s freedom to make their own decisions about their health and families and put those decisions in the hands of politicians.

As the last statewide-elected Democrat in Ohio, I stand with the majority of Ohioans who want reproductive care to be legal and accessible. I will never stop working to protect women’s -- and all Americans’ -- freedom to live their lives how they want without interference from politicians.

I’ve taken steps to codify and restore Roe and protect Ohioans’ right to travel for the care they need.

These threats to women’s health won’t let up and they won’t stop at Roe. Senate Republicans already introduced a nationwide abortion ban. The GOP could come after birth control and fertility treatments next.

We have to keep showing up and staying involved. That can mean voting. It can mean registering others to vote. It can mean talking to your friends and family about these issues that affect all of us.
