Maybe you are running late for class or you oversleep and realize that there is no way you can get dressed in time to catch the bus. Instead of calling to see if you can get a ride, why not bike there?
Winter may not be the most popular time to ride your bicycle, but that doesn't mean you shouldn’t ride it. In fact, we are encouraging you to Warm Up to Cold Weather Biking by joining us for the third annual Winter Bike to Work Day.
This year we not only have Gravelly Point, but we also have 4 coffee shop pit stops that are jumping in to help keep you warm on your cold-weather commute. Simply bike to the coffee shop of your choice, show your Eventbrite ticket (on your smartphone or printed sheet) and receive a discount on a hot beverage or free pastry (details in link). You’ll also be able to pick up BikeArlington swag at all pit stops.
The Pie Ride with Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA)
Curious about how to keep riding through the winter? Currently riding outside but unsure how in the heck to keep doing it in February when it is really cold? Have some great tips learned from experience or wisdom from others? In partnership with WABA, we’re gathering to talk though some options to keep riding outside safe and pleasant when it’s cold! We’re going for a short ride in Arlington, cover some winter riding tips and tricks for you and your bicycle, and then go find pie to celebrate!
Our final book club of the season is in just a few weeks. We’ll start up again in May, but in the meantime, let’s bike to Aurora Hills Library and discuss Esther Perel’s State of Affairs. Â
BikeArlington is a program of Arlington County Commuter Services, within the Department of Environmental Services. BikeArlington is an effort to build on an existing partnership between Arlington citizens, businesses and County staff to encourage more people to bike more often.
