John,

It has been a while since we’ve done an Around the World because of the attention we had to put on Georgia’s special runoff election between Rev. Warnock and Herschel Walker “Texas ranger.”

You definitely should have heard this by now, but Rev. Warnock DECISIVELY won the election thanks to supporters like you!

But enough about the U.S. elections, let’s take a few moments to talk about what’s going on around the world.

First, we’ll start in Germany, where officials have arrested and accused 25 far-right extremists of plotting a violent overthrow of German democracy. The plotters include Heinrich XIII, a 71-year-old “prince” who had become a family outcast within an obscure line of nobility. A spokesman for his family described Heinrich as an "at times confused" man who had fallen for "misconceptions fueled by conspiracy theories".

Other plotters include a former German parliament leader, a current judge, as well as current and former police officers and special forces units. Authorities are investigating others suspects and more arrests are possible.

The alleged plot was to disrupt the electrical grid, kidnap elected officials and execute the chancellor. The arrested were heavily armed and had already purchased satellite phones to enable communication during the power grid disruption.

This event is alarming and speaks to the increasing threat posed by the spread of far-right conspiracies and violent ideologies. Vigilance is necessary to prevent these psychopaths from destroying everything we have built.

Speaking of conspiratorial psychopaths, Putin the invader has been trying to save face by increasing the suffering of the Ukrainian people by heavily targeting Ukrainian power stations with missiles. The “strategy,” as much as human rights violations can be considered a strategy, will bring torment to the Ukrainian people by taking away heat during the winter.

I don’t expect this to break the Ukrainian people. They have proven themselves resilient and committed to their own protection. In the last week, between Monday and Friday, Ukrainian forces claimed to have taken out 2,240 Russian invaders despite the missile barrages.

The Ukrainian people will not stop fighting for freedom, and we can’t stop supporting them.

Finally, I’d like to talk about the sudden and tragic passing of US soccer journalist Grant Wahl. He collapsed during a World Cup and is believed to have died either at a hospital in Qatar or while he was being transported there. The specific cause of death is not known, but Wahl reported feeling unwell and had visited the hospital in the days leading up to his death.

Journalism is a noble profession. It might seem odd to some to say that even about sports journalism, but sports unites us all and encourages a spirit of friendly competition.

Wahl, however, exhibited bravery by anyone’s standards when he decided to wear a pro-LGBTQ+ to the World Cup opener in Qatar. Qatar is infamously hostile towards that community. His shirt choice earned him a 25-minute detainment by security. They attempted to get him to remove the shirt, but he ultimately prevailed!

All Around the World, people are fighting for truth, decency, and democracy. I’m glad to have you on my team as we do the same back here at home. If you are able, a donation to keep our work going would be so very appreciated!
