The Unquenchable Spirit
"...there is a special spirit that has warmed our hearts since our earliest childhood—
a spirit that brings us close to our homes, our families, our friends and neighbors:
the Christmas spirit of "peace on Earth, goodwill toward men." It is an unquenchable spirit."
Franklin D. Roosevelt's Christmas broadcast address, December 24, 1943

At the Living New Deal, we’re collecting and sharing the stories of the men and women who guided our nation through the Great Depression; teaching a new generation about the New Deal's policies and programs that provided hope and dignity to working people in troubled times; and uncovering the New Deal’s vast imprint on the landscape—state by state, project by project. Our talks, tours and ever-expanding interactive website—free to everyone—reached more million people in 2022.

We believe the New Deal holds valuable lessons for America today. With your generous support, we at the Living New Deal will continue to fan the flames of the New Deal’s unquenchable spirit.
