A Legacy of Service to the Republican Party of Arkansas   Remembering Ken Coon     My fellow Republicans, It is with a heavy heart that I write to share the news that the Republican Party of Arkansas has lost Dr. Kenneth Lloyd "Ken" Coon, Sr., 87, of Hot Springs and Mountain View, who went to be with the Lord this past Tuesday, December 8th, 2022. Dr. Coon was hired as the Executive Director of the Republican Party of Arkansas (RPA) from 1972-1976. He served as a County Chairman, District Chairman, and RPA State Chairman from 1988-1990. He is a recipient of the "Hi, I'm Frank White" Award, the highest honor the RPA can bestow. You can watch Dr. Coon in his own words from the link to this interview in 2012 where he details why he was a Republican and what the path to a conservative majority in Arkansas took. He ran for office three times as the Republican nominee – Lieutenant Governor in 1972, Governor in 1974, and US Congress in 1996. Although, while he was not a victor in these races, he understood the need for the Arkansas GOP to run credible candidates with the hope the party would one day win broadly and consistently. That hope became reality with the remarkable success achieved by Republican candidates over the last decade. Dr. Coon is also known as an author for his insightful account of the history of the RPA: "Heroes and Heroines of the Journey: The Builders of the Modern Republican Party of Arkansas, 1964-2014." Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, AR 72211 followed by Funeral Services at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at the School Avenue Church of Christ, 213 School Avenue, Mountain View, AR 72560 followed by a graveside service at 1 p.m., on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Indian Village Cemetery south of Calhoun, LA. "The State of Arkansas and the Arkansas Republican Party lost a special man with the passing of Ken Coon, Sr. We remember and honor his work and his leadership that laid the foundation for the success conservatives in this state enjoy today. He will be missed. We extend our condolences to his family and pray for God’s grace to bring healing to his family in the wake of his passing.” Cody Hiland | Chairman Republican Party of Arkansas   Republican Party of Arkansas | ArkansasGOP.org Republican Party of Arkansas | 1201 W. 6th St, Little Rock, AR 72201 Unsubscribe [email protected] Update Profile | Constant Contact Data Notice Sent by [email protected] powered by Try email marketing for free today!
