John, I wanted to take some time today and introduce myself.

I’m Representative Judy Chu -- Founder of ASPIRE.

As the daughter of two Chinese immigrants, I never imagined running for office.

Until I watched my city council pass an English Only ordinance.

I was in disbelief.

This was a blatant attack on the thousands of immigrants who called our town home.

I was determined to overturn this divisive resolution.

So I knocked on doors and worked with my neighbors to successfully overturn it.

After fighting that ordinance, I knew we needed a voice on the city council.

So I ran for city council and won.

But, John, I want you to know: my story isn’t unique.

There are thousands of activists all across this country working from the grassroots level to make meaningful change. I founded ASPIRE to ensure we amplify those voices. With hate on the rise -- especially violence against Asian Americans -- it is vital we support those on the frontlines of this battle. But we can’t continue our fight without your help. Will you chip in $12 to help with the fight? >> [link removed]

John, I grew up thinking people who looked like me didn’t get elected to office.

Now, I was just re-elected to serve my eighth term in Congress.

I don’t want anyone to ever grow up thinking they can’t run for office.

Because of their race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, and/or religion.

But that starts with outreach that supports diversity, from the ground up.

If you believe in our mission too, then please chip in $12 before midnight. Your gift will go directly to educating and registering voters, training staff and helping elect more diverse Democrats. Your support will go a long way in helping us continue our work. Rush in $12 before midnight to help fight back. >> [link removed]

Now more than ever, it is absolutely essential that we elect more diverse candidates.

ASPIRE is fighting to do just that: elect more Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) to office.

We need all the help we can get to empower our communities and elect more diverse candidates.
