I’m sure you’ve seen the news, John.
Yesterday, Senator Kyrsten Sinema made it official that she’s changing her party registration from Democrat to Independent. But she’s been an enemy of Social Security for a while already―that’s why when the Democratic establishment lined up to support her in 2018, Social Security Works withheld our endorsement.
We’re going into 2024 with the same attitude: We’ll back Social Security champions, and enemies of Social Security can kick rocks, no matter what letter is next to their name.

John,
Social Security Works’s PAC endorsed 80+ candidates during the 2018 cycle. PAC President Jon “Bowzer” Bauman held events with 57 of them. We’re proud of the endorsements we made that cycle. And I’m just as proud of one that we didn’t make: Senator Kyrsten Sinema.
Before her election to the Senate in 2018, she supported a bill to fast-track cuts to Social Security and Medicare. Right now, she is Mitt Romney’s co-lead sponsor on the TRUST Act, which sets up a different fast-track process to cut Social Security and Medicare.
Today, Senator Sinema announced that she was leaving the Democratic Party and becoming an independent. Good riddance, Kyrsten.
Social Security Works is looking forward to helping Arizona find a pro-Social Security senator to replace Sen. Sinema with. If that sounds good to you, donate $5 or more to become a 2023 Social Security Works member today!
Social Security Works’s membership program is at the heart of what we do. SSW members fund the political program that helps get pro-Social Security members of Congress elected, have input into our strategy and tactics, and more.
Unlike Senator Sinema, we don’t take big corporate money. We’re able to do everything that we do because of the support of people like you, donating $5 and $10 at a time.
Donate $5 or more to become a 2023 member today!
Thanks,
Alex Lawson
