The Virginia General Assembly will convene again on January 11 for the 2023 Session.
Over the past several months, I have been working with many agencies and organizations to craft legislation that will better serve families across the Commonwealth. We need to ensure we have access to high quality education, from pre-K to college, with increased opportunities for career and technical programs that serve all Virginians. We need affordable housing, public safety, a sound healthcare system, mental health resources, and so much more.
While I am working on the kitchen table concerns that keep moms and dads up at night, the GOP is busy introducing bills that lead us nowhere and that try to divide and harm us.
We’ve already seen public declarations for legislation that will fully ban abortion access in Virginia, that attempt to demonize trans children and the families that love them, and that will undermine our efforts to protect our coastal communities. The GOP offers no solutions – only roadblocks.
I am focused on moving Virginia forward, and I hope you are too.
