Hello Fellow Climate Activists,

Once again, a broad coalition of Climate, Environmental, Environmental and Social Justice groups organized and spoke out, beating back Senator Joe Manchin's Dirty Deal in Congress.

This is the second time the voice of the people has pressured Federal Representatives and Senators to reject Joe Manchin's Energy Independence and Security Act(EISA) of 2022.

Under the legislation backed by Manchin and fossil fuel CEOs, big polluting oil and gas companies could truncate the legal process of obtaining permits to build fossil fuel infrastructure, thereby limiting the voice of the public. Following the changes in the law, the fossil fuel industry could easily force through dirty, dangerous fossil fuel projects in any neighborhood and community in the United States.

If passed, the bill would have overturned decades of environmental safeguards designed to protect communities from fossil fuel based pollution. His efforts to attach the EISA legislation during the lame duck session of congress has failed, for now.

Yet, Senator Manchin has declared he will seek to attach the EISA to another must-pass spending bill before the end of this congressional session.
