Dear friend,
Yesterday the House passed the Respect for Marriage Act and sent it to President Biden's desk for his signature.
The debate on the House floor highlighted the need for such a bill. Republicans pleaded with their colleagues to deny LGBTQ+ Americans the right to marry and to pave the way for extremists to prevent the federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages.
But despite their efforts, we know that love is love and family is family. I was proud to vote to protect LGBTQ+ and interracial marriages, and I will continue to fight to ensure that every family has the protections they deserve. Will you join me? [[link removed]]

This measure comes as conservatives have ramped up their culture war and just weeks after the shooting at a Colorado gay club, where the shooter expressed the same hatred as many of my colleagues. It's despicable and dangerous — and we won't let it stand.
With this vote, we're sending a clear message that bigotry has no place here, and we'll continue to fight for LGBTQ+ Americans.
In solidarity,
Nydia
