No excuses. No exceptions.
At the Center for Reproductive Rights, we believe everyone deserves access to abortion, contraception, assisted reproduction services, and sex education. These are fundamental human rights.
But that's not a given for tens of millions of people around the world who have no access to reproductive health care at all, or who must travel thousands of miles—if they have the means to do so.
...Like people in Poland, where abortion is only permitted in very limited situations. In practice, it is almost impossible for Polish people eligible for legal abortion to obtain one. The extreme barriers that women and pregnant people face when seeking access to abortion has had tragic consequences for them and their families.
...Or the over 70 million people in the United States who live in states where abortion is now illegal. Large swaths of the South and Midwest are now abortion deserts—where people cannot access abortion care in their communities and must travel long distances to access services or carry pregnancies against their will.
As we reflect on International Human Rights Day, know that we will keep fighting until every person gains their fundamental human right to access abortion and reproductive health care.
