Tell Congress: Protect climate action before the year ends by passing long-term government funding.
In just a few weeks, additional climate deniers will be sworn into the House. If Congress doesn’t pass a long-term spending bill with other critical provisions before then, an anti-environment House of Representatives could be enough to block implementation of climate policies, including those contained in the historic Inflation Reduction Act.
Congress must pass long-term funding to avoid sabotaging climate action. Add your name today — it only takes a minute.

Friend —
On December 16, the federal government will shut down unless new funding is approved. Critical environmental agencies and programs could be thrown into limbo — including those that protect clean air and water, aid the transition to clean energy, and advance environmental justice.
Delaying a budget until next year would hand environmental opponents in the House leverage to sabotage all of the progress we’ve made in the fight against climate change — potentially derailing agencies’ capacity to implement the historic climate bill passed this summer.
Congress must pass a comprehensive government funding bill this year.
Friend — we need your help: tell Congress to protect climate action by passing a yearlong government funding bill with increased, robust funding for environmental programs and critical provisions to safeguard immigrants, displaced workers, and wildlife. It takes just a moment to add your name. Every action brings us closer to our goal to deliver 8,000 petitions to Capitol Hill.
This latest funding showdown is just a preview of what could happen when environmental opponents take office next year. Republicans in the House are promising to obstruct the EPA and block environmental protections. Meanwhile, environmental opponents are hoping to sneak anti-environmental provisions into must-pass bills before Congress breaks for the holidays, like Senator Joe Manchin’s dangerous permitting rollbacks.
Together, the environmental movement can demand that Congress protect the progress we’ve made in the fight for climate action and environmental justice — but that can only happen if we take action right now and make our voices heard.
On top of securing climate funding, the annual year-end funding bill is one last opportunity to secure other big wins before regressive Republicans take control of the House. It is also critical that Congress codify protections for DACA recipients, support our labor partners by assisting trade-impacted workers, and pass the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act (RAWA) to provide historic funding for wildlife conservation programs. The Senate must also approve President Biden’s nominees to lead environmental agencies and to serve as lifetime judges.
Congress has the opportunity to protect climate action and advance other critical agenda items over the next few weeks — but it will only happen if the environmental movement keeps up the pressure. Add your name today and help us reach our goal to deliver 8,000 petitions.
We are so grateful for everything you do to protect our environment and the health of our communities, Friend. Thank you for taking the time to check in and take action during the busy holiday season.
Onward,
