Dear Texan,

It was a full week in Washington, so as I make my way back to Texas, I wanted to take a moment to update you on my work in Congress and TX-31.

ON THE DOCKET:

  • Texas Border Plan
  • Congratulating Service Academy Nominees
  • 2022 Congressional App Challenge Winner

THE BRIEF:

Congressman Carter joins the Texas Delegation in announcing their plan to secure the border.

TEXAS BORDER PLAN

The Texas delegation unveiled our comprehensive border security plan ahead of Republicans taking back the majority in the House. This commitment lays out legislation that will complete physical infrastructure, improve border enforcement, target criminals and close loopholes that allow individuals to go free into our country. Included in the plan is my bill, the Updated Standards for Asylum (USA) ACT, which will combat fraudulent asylum claims. There’s one thing about Texans, you can count on us. So, if this Administration won’t act, we will!

Congressman Carter calls to congratulate TX-31 Service Academy nominees.

CONGRATULATING SERVICE ACADEMY NOMINEES

One of my greatest honors as your representative is nominating outstanding young people to the United States military academies. I just had the distinct pleasure of letting several TX-31 students know they’ve earned a nomination from my office. Next, they must secure an appointment from their chosen academy. Good luck to all!

I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Title 42 has proven essential when combatting the overwhelming numbers at our southern border. Last month, a federal judge struck down Title 42, ending the program on December 21st. U.S. Border Patrol agents are now warning they could face an overwhelming 18,000 illegal crossings a day at the southern border. I want to know what you think. Take a moment to fill out the survey below.

Are you concerned about the end of Title 42?

Representative Carter announces Ayushmaan Dubey as the winner of the 2022 Congressional App Challenge.

2022 CONGRESSIONAL APP CHALLENGE WINNER

Every year members of Congress host the Congressional App Challenge, giving students all over the nation the opportunity to demonstrate their computer science skills. I recently announced Ayushmaan Dubey as the TX-31 2022 Congressional App Challenge winner for his app, Rise and Shine, which connects students with tutors. I am always so impressed to see the apps that students create. The students who participate in this challenge always find creative ways to solve real world problems, and this year was no different. Congratulations to all the students who competed in the challenge. You should be very proud!
