It is a privilege to serve the 23rd Congressional District of Texas in Congress. Each day, I work to address your concerns and protect our liberties. Please read below for some updates on my recent work representing you in Washington, D.C. and back home in TX-23. THE HAPPENINGS IN CONGRESS Held a Bipartisan Press Conference on the Rising Suicide Rates at CBP There have been 14 suicides this year at U.S. Customs and Border Protection. That is 14 too many. These federal agents who have taken their lives aren't just numbers. These are real people with families who are forever impacted. That’s why I hosted a press conference to discuss ways in which we can aid our men and women in green and blue serving on the frontlines. I am thankful that members from both sides of the aisle came together on this important issue. Watch the full press conference here. Supported the Passage of FY23 National Defense Authorization Act As a 20-year Navy veteran, I was proud to support this year’s NDAA. This funding package bolsters our ability to counter adversaries such as China and Russia, rescinds the COVID-19 vaccine mandate for servicemembers, grants a pay raise to our troops, and includes provisions to improve the quality of life and well-being of our military personnel and their families. This package also provides critical funding for military bases in our district such as Lackland and Randolph, in addition to greater resources for our Border Patrol agents by providing much-needed technology and life-saving training to prevent secondary exposure to deadly fentanyl. I will always support the men and women bravely defending our nation. Read the full press release here. DISCUSSED HEALTHCARE FOR TX-23 Sat Down With Leaders From the University Medical Center of El Paso This week I had the opportunity to meet with leaders from the University Medical Center of El Paso. We discussed the importance of healthcare workers and their role in providing essential resources to the hospitals that care for our nation’s most vulnerable populations. Met With the CEO of University Health - San Antonio This week I met with the CEO of University Health - San Antonio, George Hernandez, and his team for an update on their operations. We discussed quality of healthcare resources, bolstering cybersecurity, and furthering their mission to keep San Antonio healthy. I look forward to continuing to represent them in Congress. My team and I are always available to assist you. Please feel free to contact my office at any time.
