Dear Neighbors,
I wrote to the CEO of Ticketmaster’s parent company Live Nation Entertainment, Inc. this week raising concerns about potentially unfair or deceptive practices in the live ticketing industry and the chaotic ticket pre-sale for Taylor Swift’s upcoming concert tour.
Fans endured delays, lockouts, and competition with aggressive scammers, scalpers, and bots during the recent pre-sale of tickets for the Eras tour. In the letter, I requested a staff briefing from the company, including a discussion on additional fees, dynamic pricing, restrictions on transferability, limited ticket availability, speculative ticketing, verified fan program requirements, and scalping by bots and other scammers. South Amboy Will Receive $2.8 Million for Coastal Resiliency
South Amboy will receive $2.8 to bolster coastal resilience and protect wildlife habitats. The funding is distributed through the 2022 National Coastal Resilience Fund, which is administered by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF). This year’s awards included funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
South Amboy will use the funding to restore 20 acres of former industrial land along 1.5 miles of coastline through marsh and living shoreline construction to enhance nesting habitat for osprey, little blue herons, and snowy egrets.
The project will revitalize the coastal ecosystem to improve resilience to flood hazards and provide the community with safe access to the waterfront. Since Superstorm Sandy, New Jersey has invested hundreds of millions of dollars to make our state more resilient against the effects of climate change, and this funding is another step in the right direction to build on this progress. Public Health Bills Pass the House
This week the House passed two bills that I advanced out of my Committee that improve our nation’s public health system by investing in research opportunities and expanding access to critical preventative services.
The CAROL Act expands vital medical research into valvular heart disease and its treatment to reduce cardiac deaths. It will improve our knowledge of valvular heart disease, increase education and awareness, and ultimately save lives.
