We hope you had a great week! Congressman Kim had a packed and historic week in Washington D.C. that included helping pass the Respect for Marriage Act that when signed into law will protect marriage equality as the law of the land. From now on, in federal law - love means love!
The Congressman also voted to pass the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to deliver major investments for our servicemembers, military families, protect jobs and bring more opportunities to New Jersey, and more.

The Respect for Marriage Act Passes through Congress and Heads to the President’s Desk
On Thursday, Congressman Kim voted to pass the Respect for Marriage Act to enshrine marriage equality for same-sex and interracial couples, repeal the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), and provide additional legal protections for marriage equality. This is an historic and major step in upholding America’s promise of equality!
Congressman Kim previously voted to pass the Respect for Marriage Act in July. The legislation returned for a final vote in the House after being amended and passed by the Senate on November 29th, 2022.
Congressman Kim Votes to Pass Bipartisan National Security and Defense Authorization Act, Delivering Jobs and Support for New Jersey
Yesterday, Congressman Kim also voted to pass the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2023. The Congressman worked hard to ensure we are investing in the people who keep us safe while also securing historic investments in technology and innovation that will help keep jobs in New Jersey. This bill will prepare our country for the unprecedented challenges ahead and honor the sacrifices our servicemembers and their families make through a much deserved pay raise.

Get to Know PACT Act Benefits
This weekend is the start of PACT Act Week of Action! The PACT Act is a newly enacted law that expands veteran healthcare benefits to those who were exposed to toxic substances during service. We want to make sure our local veterans know just how much it can do for them and their care! Get to know your benefits and please reach out with any questions.
On Monday, December 12th, you can hear from experts about the PACT Act at a virtual presentation and discussion on newly available benefits. Tune in to the event online at 12pm and find more information via the Philadelphia VA’s Medical Center.

Congressman Kim Secures Over $1.8 Million in Behavioral and Mental Health Grants for Burlington County Institute of Technology
On Monday, Congressman Kim announced that the Burlington County Institute of Technology (BCIT) will be receiving $1.8 million in federal grants. Our office was proud to help connect them with funding to meet local students and families’ behavioral and mental health needs.

Congressman Kim Thanks Capitol Police at Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony
Tuesday, Congressman Kim joined colleagues and congressional leadership at a Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony to honor the officers who put their lives on the line to protect the Capitol building and democracy on January 6th, 2021.
Congressman Kim Discusses Local Community Needs
The Congressman had a full week of meetings to talk about legislative proposals and the work ahead to meet community members’ needs. On Wednesday, Congressman Kim met with members of the New Jersey 1199SEIU representing healthcare workers. He also met with representatives from the International Association of Fire Fighters later in the week about his Supporting Our First Responders Act and supporting emergency medical services personnel.
