Today, U.S. Senator Kyrsten Sinema announced that she’s switching her party affiliation from Democrat to Independent. The Washington Post reports, "Democrats will still control the Senate next year" and will still have 51 votes (including 3 independents).
Sinema’s move today affirmed the inevitable.
She has no constituency in Arizona among Democratic, Republican, or Independent voters – and is unelectable in 2024 in either the primary or general election.
Kyrsten Sinema's constituency is Wall Street. She hurt all Americans by tanking universal child care, voting rights, and taxing billionaires so they pay their fair share.
Sinema seems destined to join her friends on Wall Street when her term expires in 2024. Democrats need to start the process now of electing a real Democrat in Arizona who will side with working families. Here's an important first step:
Arizona proved in 2020 and 2022 that real Democrats can win statewide. Starting today, we can start winning in 2024.
Thanks for being a bold progressive.
