Hello John —
The holidays are a time of reflection and celebrating all that we’ve accomplished together. Looking back at this year alone, I am blown away by the level of support and progress we’ve made in the gun violence prevention movement. But I’m also thinking of the empty chairs that will be at gatherings of the victims’ families and loved ones as a reminder of why we must keep fighting.
The past year was filled with devastating losses and challenging moments. In 2022, gun deaths rose and gun violence remains the leading cause of death among young people. The Supreme Court sided with the gun lobby in cases that set our nation back decades. Our country also saw high-profile mass shootings that took too many lives away from us, including in Uvalde, Texas, Buffalo, New York, and Colorado Springs, Colorado.
But 2022 was also a transformative year for us, leading to decisive victories and cultural shifts for our movement. Because of your support, we saw a historic jump in youth voter turnout in the midterm elections. We elected more pro-gun safety leaders to Congress (including the first Gen-Z Congressmember Maxwell Frost!). We spearheaded another wave of nationwide protests last spring that resulted in Congress passing the first gun safety bill in over 30 years.
December marks the end of the year. As we enter the season of giving, we’re launching our End of Year Match Campaign, during which a generous donor will double your support.
I am respectfully asking you, John: Will you make your first donation to fuel the fights ahead and start the year on the strongest note possible? Every dollar counts as a matched gift up to $100,000 until December 31.
Today and every day, we are extremely proud of our work to save lives and supporters like you for playing an important role in our hard-fought wins. Next year, we’ll roll up our sleeves and get right back to work in the fight to end gun violence.
Thank you for your commitment to building a safer future for the next generation.
