Obviously, Trump’s extremism has gone too far as he continues to reach new lows in his attempts to rile up his base for his next presidential run in 2024. He has a sizable chunk of the GOP in a MAGA chokehold and he knows that Republicans will do little to nothing to stop him.
Here in New Mexico, we had to fight tooth and nail against NM GOP candidates who’ve echoed his election-denying beliefs, like Yvette Herrell and Audrey Trujillo. We might fall into the trap of thinking that Trump’s radicalism is a unique case, but his unfounded and extremist beliefs are right under our noses at any given time. We’ve seen what can happen when Trump’s most bizarre statements go unchecked, and we have to be prepared to defend Democracy against his MAGA radicalism.
