bigotry and hate run rampant on many social networking platforms
(especially on Elon Musk’s Twitter, where hate speech has SURGED
dramatically.)
In the six weeks since Elon Musk took over Twitter:
* Slurs against women are up 33%
* Slurs against gay men & trans folks are up 58% and 62%, respectively
* The use of the “N-word” is 3x higher than the daily average for 2022
* Incidents of antisemitic content have risen while moderation of
antisemitic posts is down
It’s time to END the hate.
Each day that it’s allowed to continue, more people are radicalized
online, then take their hate OFFline and put it into action.
Big Tech execs don’t have to let it continue. They can choose to crack
down on hatred — and they should. Yet so far, we’ve only heard vague
explanations and weak solutions.
