Dear neighbor,
Last week, after experiencing some cold symptoms, I tested positive for COVID-19. I’m grateful to be fully vaccinated and boosted, which reduced the severity of my symptoms. After following CDC isolation protocols, I’m grateful to have tested negative and am feeling much better. Thank you for all your well wishes!
As a reminder, if you haven’t already done so, please get your updated COVID booster ahead of the holidays. For more information on vaccines and where you can get your booster, please visit vaccines.gov and/or publichealth.lacounty.gov.
As COVID-19 cases are rising in LA County, other viruses such as the flu and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) are circulating as well. Below are some simple steps you can take to stay healthy this winter.
Despite testing positive for COVID, I was still able to work remotely and vote by proxy on some key legislative items this week. Here are a few updates:
- I voted to send the Respect for Marriage Act to President Biden’s desk for signature. This bill will ensure critical protections for same-sex and interracial marriages.
- The House passed the Veteran Service Recognition Act to make the naturalization process easier for active duty servicemembers so that they never have to experience the fear of deportation.
- I joined a House Judiciary Committee hearing on the Supreme Court and called for a Supreme Court code of ethics. Watch my full remarks below:
