John,
Ajit Pai repealed net neutrality nationwide, but last year a federal court said that states can pass their own strong net neutrality protections.
And now the governor of New York has announced his intention to introduce net neutrality legislation in 2020.1
California has already passed "gold standard" net neutrality legislation, and we played a crucial role in its passage. New York could be the next big domino to fall, and with two of the largest states in the country taking action, it's only a matter of time before we once again have net neutrality nationwide.
But first we need to win in New York, and AT&T and Comcast lobbyists will be swarming Albany to weaken or kill any net neutrality legislation.
Will you make a donation to help pass strong net neutrality protections in New York and restore net neutrality nationwide?

Several states, including California, Vermont, and Maine, have already passed net neutrality legislation. New York is the third most populous state, and soon 1 in 3 Americans could live in states where net neutrality is once again the law of the land.
This is exactly what we've been working for since last year, when a federal court ruled that states could set their own net neutrality rules. With former Verizon lawyer Ajit Pai in charge of the FCC, we knew that this was the best path to making the open Internet the law of the land.2
So after the courts opened the door to state action on net neutrality, we launched a coordinated campaign to get states to pass strong open Internet protections. Telecom companies don't want to have to follow different rules for different states, so if we pass enough state net neutrality laws, we'll reach a tipping point where these companies are more likely to come to the table on a federal net neutrality bill.
But before we can get our next big win in New York, we need to do two things:
- Make sure the New York net neutrality legislation truly provides the protections we need—with none of the loopholes and exemptions that Big Cable lobbyists are sure to push for.
- Pass the bill through a notoriously corrupt New York legislature known for bribery and vote trading.
Winning net neutrality in New York would be our next huge step toward beating Big Cable. But in order to win in New York, we’re going to have to dive in—put boots on the ground to organize, harness public pressure, and make sure we get the net neutrality bill we need. Will you donate to help mobilize the grassroots pressure we need to win?
Yes, I'll donate to help pass strong net neutrality protections in New York and restore net neutrality nationwide.
Together,
