I am writing to you as the Institute for Justice closes out one of our busiest weeks this year. IJ has been on the go from coast to coast, hustling to set the stage for a productive 2023. Our tenacious spirit is fueled by nearly 10,000 generous supporters—and I hope you will join us in the constant fight for constitutional rights.

Here’s a quick summary of what we’ve accomplished—just in the past five days!

We launched two new cases: one expanding freedom and opportunity for small business owners in North Carolina, and another in Texas protecting the right to record government officials free from retaliation.

We were in court—three times in a single day!—persuading judges to remove barriers for California entrepreneurs, expand access to care for new mothers in Georgia, and hold a TSA officer accountable for egregious abuse. These oral arguments spanned nearly every level of the state and federal judiciaries, and we’re optimistic they will result in victories.

Of course, things don’t always go our way. On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court declined an opportunity to take up an IJ case that could have enforced protections for people who speak for a living. Yet with nine similar cases working their way up through the lower courts, we are dedicated to the fundamental principle of free speech—and we won’t back down until we affirm that ideal at the nation’s highest court.

And today, we filed two new cert petitions—with two more planned early next week, effectively doubling the number of IJ cases awaiting the Supreme Court’s review. Though the Court is notoriously stingy about case selection, IJ is determined to bring these cases to the highest level, where victories have the potential to set sweeping precedent and trigger a wave of change across the country.

IJ wins cases because we’re right, we’re relentless, and we’re championing everyday Americans—all because of the support of principled individuals like you.

Stand with IJ today with a gift to secure freedom and justice for all.
