Instead of funding the ACA’s expansion, Congress gave greedy health industry executives everything they wanted.

John,

As one of Congress’ last acts of 2019, they passed two major tax cuts that handed over $176 billion to hugely profitable health industry corporations.

The two tax cuts―one for health insurers, the other for medical-device makers―repeal key taxes that help fund the Affordable Care Act, which was signed into law by President Obama and provides healthcare to about 20 million Americans.

So, instead of funding the ACA’s expansion, which is needed to provide health coverage to millions of uninsured families, Congress gave greedy health industry executives and shareholders everything they wanted.

We’re fighting back!

Write to your members of Congress now and tell them how angry you are about this corporate giveaway. Demand that they repeal the tax cuts for health insurance and medical-device corporations and instead fund healthcare for working families.

What should Congress have done? It had been expected that the end-of-year bill would improve the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and extend the full Child Tax Credit to low-income families, both of which would have made a huge difference in the lives of millions of working families.

Instead, Congress bowed to health industry lobbyists who waged a massive lobbying campaign to ensure corporate profits are favored above all else.

This is yet another example of a rigged tax system that gives huge tax handouts to the wealthy and big business at the expense of the health and economic security of all Americans.

Join Americans for Tax Fairness in demanding a tax system that works for all of us, not just the wealthy few. Write to your members of Congress today and tell them to repeal the $176 billion in tax cuts for health insurance and medical-device corporations.

Together, we will not accept business as usual in Washington.

Thank you,
