Dear John,
This past year, our first as state senators in Albany, we passed major progressive legislative reforms to make New York State a leader in protecting tenants, immigrants, and reproductive rights in the face of ongoing attacks from Washington.
None of this would have been possible without the support of grassroots activists and elected officials who believed that it was possible to take on the establishment and win. Brad Lander was there early and often in our fight to sink the IDC and take back the State Senate, and has been a strong partner, mentor and friend in our first terms as elected officials.
Now, Brad is running to bring his work for a more just and equitable New York to citywide office, a tall order in a city as large as NYC. Help him get there [[link removed]] .
Thankfully, New York City has a strong campaign finance program to enable candidates to run campaigns fueled by grassroots donors rather than the real estate industry. Every dollar donated by a New Yorker (up to $250) is matched 8 to 1, so just a $10 dollar donation today will turn into $90 for Brad to spend on reaching out to as many New Yorkers as possible in the coming months to talk with them about their goals, needs, and hopes for our city.

We have no doubt that Brad will bring his compassion and deep experience to the work of ensuring that our city is prepared to weather the climate crisis, invest its resources wisely, and serve all New Yorkers equally. We’ve seen him at work, constantly pushing to make us move farther, faster to make progressive change that New York needs. We know he takes the idea of democracy very seriously, working hard to increase public participation in budgeting, planning, and decision-making.
And he gets things done. Brad has fought successfully to protect freelancers from wage theft, give fast-food workers a fair work week, and make sure Uber/Lyft drivers earn a living wage. He has been a dedicated champion of reforming discriminatory practices in the NYPD, and won protection for tenants against harassment and displacement.
Brad has an important fundraising deadline coming up on Saturday. Will you join us by making a donation to help Brad show strong early support? [[link removed]]
Thank you,
