Dear Texas Values Supporters, Breaking: Last night the Taylor City Council met, and after local Taylor residents overloaded the council room in opposition to the anti-Christian proposed policy that would have banned Christians and churches from participating in the city Christmas parade, the council moved to postpone the unconstitutional policy (Agenda Item #13), citing the need for further review by the City Attorney. Your response to our action alerts on this issue was so important!! Directly before the Council meeting, Texas Values held a press conference at Taylor City Hall with members of our policy team, Taylor church leaders, and the concerned community at large. Texas Values team members also testified in opposition to the controversial policy at the council meeting that ended late into Thursday night. Jonathan Covey, Director of Policy for Texas Values released this statement: “We’re grateful for this victory in the fight to keep Christ in Christmas. The war may not yet be over, but the city council and their radical LGBT activists who appear to have pushed for this anti-Christian policy, will likely get a lump of coal on December 25th. For now, churches and people of faith in Taylor can celebrate Christmas in peace, remembering the birth of baby Jesus and goodwill toward man this holiday season.“ Click here for more details on this issue. This issue is not over, though. We expect that after Christmas that the Taylor city council will try to vote on a modified version of this policy.
