Dear friend,

Tomorrow is World Human Rights Day, a moment with even greater meaning as
we close out 2022. This has been a time of unprecedented change and
uncertainty — exposing serious global risks and also presenting immense
opportunities for humanitarians like you to help create new possibilities
in the year ahead.

Mercy Corps exists to alleviate suffering, poverty, and oppression by
helping people build secure, productive, and just communities.

With our community’s support, we are able to
put this mission into action. We are grounded in the unwavering belief
that the people who are most impacted by crises know what’s best for
themselves. As we work together to build solutions, we ensure that
communities lead the way.

year-end gift to send critical support for communities working hard to
build a brighter future?

Over the past few decades, global crises are increasing in number,
duration, and complexity. Extreme poverty is on the rise for the first
time in two decades. Violent conflict is currently at a 30-year high. The
global climate emergency continues to accelerate — its impacts are felt
most by those who have contributed the least to climate change.

The enormity of these challenges makes it easy to see a world of
unsolvable problems, but at Mercy Corps, we see new opportunities to make
transformational change. It’s what happens when women are not only
included but are driving change in their communities, when today’s youth
become the leaders and peacebuilders of tomorrow, when digital solutions
help farmers sustainably produce more food and withstand unpredictable
climate patterns.

We approach these challenges by asking questions: What are communities
telling us are their most critical needs? How can we help meet them? And
how can innovation be part of the answer? This approach reflects our
ambition to not only meet the basic needs of communities in crisis, but to
achieve lasting change.

year ahead — and help pave new pathways to possibility for families around
the globe.
