2022 is on its way out, but we’re already looking forward to 2023. Get ready for a slate of bold, cutting-edge actions in the new year including counter-protesting the annual March for Life, taking it to big tech for their suppression of abortion related content while allowing disinformation to flourish, and, as always, standing up to say Abortion Is Unstoppable.
Travelling for the holidays this year? Stuck on a plane, train, or a bus with a few hours to kill? Why not use that time to catch up on one of our reproductive justice focused webinars?
We have covered a variety of topics this year from abortion care for young people to holding big tech accountable for suppressing abortion content. We’re sure you can find one that piques your interest and we’re sure you’ll love our deep dive into the topic.
Self-care is an intentional practice that roots us in the present despite the oppression we may face. Regular self-care is essential for sustainable and effective activism.
Here are our self-care tips for December:
1. Stay warm and cozy this winter. If you’re like me and hate the cold that comes with the winter months, get yourself a heated blanket or a heating pad to put under your blanket. It’s your business if you find yourself doing this year round. – Evonnia, movement building and research manager
2. Cleanse your energy! Gloria Anzaldúa wrote "Power comes from being in touch with your body, soul, and spirit, and letting their wisdom lead you." Nothing brings me more tranquility than being in sync and truly connecting with all aspects of me. This will allow you to understand, connect and validate these emotions which will give you the opportunity to cleanse yourself of self-doubt. You will also have the ability to self-reflect, giving you wisdom for any future endeavors or your day-to-day life. – Jacqueline, outreach coordinator
3. Traditions are optional. There can be a lot of pressure to do certain things this time of year, especially when the old excuse of because it’s tradition! rears its head. Consider this your friendly reminder that you can and should opt out of any traditions you don’t have capacity for or don’t enjoy! Maybe that space will even let you create some new ones. – Elizabeth, development and operations manager
See you next month!
