Design for Change Contest
POSTER DESIGN CONTEST
Submissions accepted: February 1, 2020 - March 15, 2020
Winner announced: April 4, 2020
The theme for this poster design contest is GOTC (Get Out the Count.) We want to remind the community to participate in the 2020 Census and educate on the importance of being counted. Your design should not need an
explanation, and should incorporate the OCA logo, anyhow you’d like, somewhere on the poster. (Download logo here.) You may change the colors of the logo, but must keep ADVOCATE under the OCA graphic.
Please send your 8.5”x11” (2550 x 3300 pixels) design in high quality PNG/JPG, Ai, or PDF file to Thu Nguyen at
[email protected]. These posters will be printed for the 2020 OCA Convention. By submitting your design, you are agreeing to allow OCA full printing rights if you win the contest.

OCA Spring Internal Internship Opportunity
Deadline to Apply: Rolling (until filled)
Program Dates: Spring 2020 (flexible)
The OCA Internal Internship Program seeks to cultivate leadership by providing students with the opportunity to be involved in a national civil rights organization. Interns will gain valuable experience working for one of the largest AAPI civil rights nonprofits in the nation and develop their research, advocacy, and organizing skills, all while earning academic credit for their work.
Selected applicants will support OCA National’s day-to-day operations by working directly with the Communications, Development, Policy, and Programs departments. The OCA Internal Internship Program is offered during the Fall, Winter, and Spring, with expected weekly hours and length of program flexible to accommodate each students’ school workload.
We are now accepting internship applications for the Spring term! Undergraduate college students and recent grads (up to one year) are encouraged to apply.

Have you ever attended one of our national programs? (APA-Y, APIA-U, MAAP, B3, AAPI Womxn’s Initiative, OCA National Convention, JACL/OCA Leadership Summit, the OCA Internship Program)
If so, please participate in the first-ever OCA Program Alumni Survey! ([link removed])
OCA’s mission is to advance the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. The goal of this survey is to assess whether or not we are accomplishing our mission through our national programs, and to better understand the needs of the community we aim to serve. It will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete the questionnaire. In addition, once you complete the survey you will be entered into a raffle to win one of several prizes, including $50 VISA gift cards and free 1-year OCA memberships.
Your opinions are very important to us. Please help us by taking the survey!
*Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. Your survey responses will be strictly confidential and data from this research will be reported only in the aggregate. The survey will close on February 6, 2020.

Here's what we worked on in December!
* Endorsed and supported the introduction of the New Way Forward Act in Congress alongside partner SEARAC.
* Passed the FUTURE Act with strong bipartisan support in the House and Senate, and had it signed into law by the President.
* We continue to make strategic connections to advance our Chinese American Racial Profiling priorities, including submitting FOIA requests and connecting with CAPAC (Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus).
* We continue to craft new legislation alongside our Latinx partners MALDEF and UNIDOS to protect AAPI, Latinx, and other immigrant families.
* We are readying for the release of our Voter Toolkits to celebrate a big new 2020 year of VOTING!
