As we approach Christmas, I'm writing to thank you. By supporting public transport, walking and cycling, you are helping to build a greener, fairer future.

Sustainable transport has amazing potential to cut carbon emissions, traffic and air pollution. And the good news is, when public transport is good and affordable, people really want to use it...

• This year, train overtook plane as the preferred way to travel between Edinburgh and London, thanks to new affordable tickets
• And when regular passenger services returned to the Dartmoor Line after almost 50 years, an amazing 50,000 journeys were made on the restored line in just 20 weeks – more than double the number predicted!

Success stories like these show what is possible: better transport means a greener future, a fairer society and a thriving economy.

But in too many places, public transport is NOT good, OR affordable. Bus services are being cut, train services are plagued with problems, and fares are becoming less and less affordable.

Campaign for Better Transport is the charity striving to change that. We are working hard to fend off cuts and really harness the power of public transport to tackle climate change, and you can help by making a donation to our Christmas appeal.
