Friends and Comrades,
If you are depressed about current events, take solace in the fact that there are many good folks working daily to turn things around. Bernie Sanders is one of them, and recent polling indicates voters are ready to support his run for the Presidency. He is in a virtual tie for first place in Iowa. He is in the lead by himself In New Hampshire.
His unwavering support of a reconfigured Medicare which provides a truly all-encompassing low cost health care plan is very popular. He will also fight for a Green New Deal to provide low-cost renewable energy and jobs, and more importantly, keep our planet habitable. Plus a free college tuition program to keep the worker bees out of debt while they train to turn the world around inspires many. We Twin Ports DSA members are among them and working now to get the word out. We invite you to join us in supporting Bernie Sanders and encourage people to get out and vote early for Bernie in the Minnesota Primary beginning January 17, 2020. The actual primary will be on March 3rd.
But all work and no play makes for a grumpy socialist. Twin Ports DSA will be hosting another Presidential Debate watch party on Tuesday January 14 at Carmody’s Irish Pub, 308 E Superior St. We will be there at 7pm, the debate goes from 8 to 10 pm. Come early and conspire if you want, but Please come join us in cheering Bernie on. At this time there are only 5 candidates scheduled.
If you can’t find a spot to park on Superior St, there is ample free parking in the ramp on the 300 block of E 1st St. Take the skywalk into the Sheraton Hotel and the elevator down to Superior St. Carmody’s is right across Superior St.
We will have locally produced buttons and “Twin Ports for Bernie” bumper stickers available.
Want to learn more about Medicare for All ? Come join us on Tuesday, January 21, at the Central Hillside Community Center, (12 E 4th St). We will be serving chili at 6pm and at 6:30 Buddy Robinson will be presenting and explaining the advantages of Medicare for All. This event is hosted by the Duluth Chapter of Health Care for All Minnesota, and co-sponsored by Twin Ports DSA. Again, Please come join us.
If you like music, AND Bernie, keep Thursday Feb 6 open. Music will begin at 6pm at The Flame. Like she did in 2016, Jnana Hand has inspired “Music for a revolution: a live event to promote Bernie”. Four musical groups will be expressing their support of Senator Sanders by donating their talents to this fundraising (voluntary donations) and get out the vote early event. Twin Ports DSA is a proud sponsor of this event.
It is not too early now to begin the work of finding more folks that are willing to talk to their friends and neighbors about getting to the polls on March 3, 2020 to vote for Bernie in the MN Presidential Primary. The WI primary is April 7.
If you wish to donate to our local, independent campaign for Bernie Sanders, please go to this link and we will put your donation to good, local use.
