John, the facts are clear, and the data backs it up. Hate speech is up across Twitter since Elon Musk’s $44 billion acquisition. Neo-Nazis, homophobes, conspiracy theorists, and racists are flocking to create accounts.

Today, I sent Musk a letter demanding he take action, and laying out the facts.

Musk didn’t appreciate being called out on it, and his trolls have already proven my point — ramping up their antisemitic and QAnon attacks on me with ferocious intensity in just the past few hours.

John, it is essential that we stop the spread of hate speech on Twitter and social media. We cannot back down from Elon Musk and his supporters’ efforts at intimidation. Cosign our letter demanding that he take action to combat the rise in dangerous hate speech on Twitter today.

Here are the facts since Musk’s acquisition:

Slurs against Black people have tripled.

Slurs against women are up 33%.

Slurs against Jewish people are up 61%.

Slurs against gay men are up 58%.

And engagement with these hateful tweets has increased by an astounding 273%.

That is the truth. The tens of thousands of Musk’s supporters piling on Twitter attacks against me with each passing minute will not change that. In fact, it will only reinforce it.
