Not that he ever makes much sense, but Kevin McCarthy’s new stunt is…particularly stupid. In a letter he sent to the House January 6th Committee last week, Kevin McCarthy indicated he and his band of MAGA Republicans plan to investigate the Jan. 6th Committee’s investigation.

You read that correctly. McCarthy and the GOP want to…investigate…an investigation…

Despite how comically dumb that sounds as a concept, it is still easy to infer what it means: the MAGA right wants to relitigate and undermine the crucial work this bipartisan effort has done to uncover the truth about the attack on the Capitol on January 6th, and try to manufacture proof that it was nothing but a political game to attack Trump. MAGA Republicans have always been masters of projection, but this is next level.

This charade from McCarthy is just the newest installment of Republicans plotting to destroy all avenues to hold Trump and his allies accountable for trying to destroy our democracy. And we have to fight back. Can you chip in to help us stand up to McCarthy and his MAGA Republican majority and their corrupt stunts in the new Congress?

Rather than focus their time and energy on delivering for the American people, McCarthy and the rest of the GOP would rather perform hollow stunts that obstruct accountability, score them points on Fox News and distract from their various attacks on our civil liberties. 

We can’t say we’re surprised, but it’s disgraceful nonetheless, and we cannot stand for it.
