Friend — we did it! Thanks to the dedication of so many supporters, volunteers, and grassroots donors, Senator Raphael Warnock has defeated Herschel Walker in Georgia’s runoff Senate race.

Senator Warnock is a champion for our climate and for environmental justice. His win means that Georgians will have a proven advocate for the health and safety of their communities — and our planet — for years to come. His victory also prevented Herschel Walker, a member of our Dirty Dozen list of the most anti-environmental candidates, from taking office — and brought us up to 10 out of 12 Dirty Dozen members defeated this year.
 
When elections are this close, every little bit matters. Without the environmental movement, this race would have swung the other way. Your actions — every dollar donated, every volunteer shift filled — have expanded environmental leadership in the Senate, despite a challenging political environment.

Here’s just a small sample of the impact that LCV Victory Fund made in Georgia over the past few weeks:

• LCV Victory Fund and its partners were able to invest $4 million this election cycle, thanks in part to our incredible community of grassroots supporters. This included targeted digital and door-to-door campaigns to get out the vote for Senator Warnock.
• LCV Victory Fund knocked on nearly 137,000 doors and had conversations with 21,300 Georgia voters in the north Atlanta suburbs.
• New American Jobs Fund, a joint effort of LCV Victory Fund and the United Steelworkers (USW Works) supported Family Friendly Action PAC’s field organizing effort, which knocked on over 523,000 doors and had conversations with 78,400 Georgia voters.

The environmental movement made its presence known in this election, Friend. Senator Warnock regularly talked about climate, clean energy, and the Inflation Reduction Act on the campaign trail. He even ran an ad highlighting his Clean Commute for Kids Act, which is helping school districts transition to electric buses and supporting thousands of clean energy jobs in Georgia.

We’ve always known this to be true: when the environmental movement fights, we win. Thanks for being in our corner this year. Because of your support, we’ll be sending more environmental champions to Congress than the pundits ever thought possible.
